Dunmore Grand Prix #1
At North American Warhorse in Dunmore, PA

Atlantic Grand Prix at North American Warhorse
Fathers Day June 17th 2007.

A great day to race for all those in attendance.

OK, While a lot of you stayed home with the family on Fathers Day...(and I must say that I applaud those that did)...and missed probably one of...if not the best NA Warhorse races ever. Round 3 was again held on the famed Moosic Mountain which is just behind what must be considered one of the largest and best Power Sport dealerships in the country. Yes it was our AGP mountain course where only the toughest off-road races can say they beat the Warhorse.

This years course consisted of a little more than six miles of some of the nicest trails yet on this challanging mountain. The course utilized the lower 1/3 of the mountain so that the riders were never more than a mile away from the start.

The fastest lap time within the motorcycles classes was recorded by Team Husqvarna's and World Enduro Championship racer Nathan Kanney who recorded a 12 minute and 48 second time.

On the ATV side...GNCC XC1 Pro Racer Mathew Smiley who also happens to be one of the fastest ATV racers in the country recorded a fastest lap of 13 minutes and 50 seconds...which is really incredable considering the course layout.

This was the first Warhorse event that we ran our new combined format where bikes and quads run on the same day.

Weather wise you couldn't have had a better day. Saturday's thunderstorms added just the right amount of moister to keep the dust down and made traction A1 primo for all.

In the youth Minicycle race youth GNCC racer Garret Harvey out of Plainville MA held off Vincentown NJ resident Steve Hodgson for a hard earned win...A big congratulations goes out to young Garret who will also be going to the GNCC race in Snowshoe VA this coming weekend.

In the youth Quad race it was youth GNCC quad sensation Austin M Findley out of Quarryville PA who blasted off the line on his Hendrick racing prepared Honda TRX 90. Next was Garret Harvey who quickly positioning himself in the number two position and was also the winner from the youth minicycle race that ran just prior to the youth ATV race (Talk about Ironman) Garret is also another fast GNCC racer and for this race his choice of equipment was his Polaris Predator 90. Running in the number three position was Toms River NJ native Nicholas Major on a very fast and well prepped Trapani Rracing Extreme TY 90.

The Adult Motorcycle race had Team Husqvarna’s World Enduro Championship racer Nathan Kanney in attendance as well as GNCC lites and multitime ISDE Junior Team Rider and racer Wally Palmer out of Atco New Jersey. Also racing was New England hot shoe Seth Hall out of East Hampton CT and Shawn Jackson out of Marlboro NY. After 1.5 hours of some really intense racing Team Husqvarna’s Nathan Kanney crossed the finish line with a commanding victory as he prepares for the American round of the World Enduro Championship which is only weeks a way in Handcock NY. In second was Shawn Jackson and third went to Seth Hall. Wally Palmer dropped out with clutch problems after he hit a rock and bent his shifter.

The ATV race was again awesome as always with GNCC sensation Matthew Smiley in attendance. The race started with a Thomas Wright holeshot which he held for the first lap, but on lap two Matthew Smiley put in the move that would put him in the lead for good. Running in third was Susquehanna PA’s Steven Stracka followed by a pack of hard charging racers that included Wes Stone, Scott Samuel, Blake Kramer and James Eaton. When the checker dropped it was Kunkletown PA native Matthew Smiley with a commanding and hard earned victory for the day.

Again for all those that gave up their Fathers Day to race the Warhorse a big congratulations to all those that finished...to those that didn’t make it we’ll see you in a couple of weeks.
