September 1st and 2nd 2007 Geico Mountain Ridge GNCC
Atlantic Grand Prix #6 Summerset , PA

A spectacular event put on by Racer Productions.
Great Location, spectacular course, beautiful weather.

Well the summer break is over and the Geico Mountain Ridge GNCC proved to be everything for everyone and much, much more.

To begin with this event was super easy for everyone to get to...maybe the easiest GNCC to get to since the GNCC in Manahawkin NJ that Lindsey Pirie helped Dave Coombs layout back in the late 90’s.

Anyway the location of this event was at Mountain Ridge Trails which is an OHV park in Summerset PA and also happens to be the same location as this years Quad Fest. The Mountain Ridge Trails OHV park sits on over 3600 acres of some of the most beautiful country you'll ever be able to ride on in Pennsylvania.

Entering the property was easy and the one mile drive up the unpaved two lane gravel road was easy for all including big motor homes as well as race transporters. Once up on top of the mountain all were treated to commanding views of the area. Another plus was that everything was within a short walking distance from one another and the start area was close to pit row as well as the the concession area.

Parking was excellent with plenty of area to park and back right up to the course so accessing your racers pit area was made easy.

If you were a spectator it was super easy scooting around and those with mountain bikes had it made.

Now on the racing action...Saturday was Quads,  Sunday was for Bikes and everyone was treated to another Jeff Russell designed GNCC course which was challenging and fun, but again that’s to be expected considering that Jeff learned from the best in the business.

The Mountain Ridge GNCC course consisted of many a new trail with lots of wide open areas that allowed for easy passing. Bottlenecks were few with the exception of the rock garden that gave many a quad rider fits navigating the trash can size boulders as well as one major mud hole.

Turnout wise...AGP riders were all over the place and for me grabbing a free drink through out the pits was made easy by the many AGP rider encampments, but maybe that’s one more reason why everyone should lockup their valuable liquid refreshments at the next AGP race.

Again the AGP riders were out in full force and many claiming bragging rights that they won their class at the GNCC...On top of that AGP regular and all around good guy Chris Borich overalled the ATV Pro race and is now back in command of the GNCC championship points lead.

On the bike side of things Pennsylvania native Barry Hawk and another ex-Quad racer overalled the bike race beating out series leader David Knight after he overheated his bike with only a lap to go.

Other notable locals were Jerod Stoner out of Lewisberry, PA with and 8th overall in the PM Bike race. Jacobus Ferreira out of Levittown, PA with an 8th overall in the youth bike race. Austin Findley with an 7th overall in the youth quad race

For all those that made the trip, I’d have to say it was all well worth it. For those that missed it well Unadilla NY GNCC is right around the corner and I can assure you all that this will be another great event for all.

Photos to come!

How AGP scored the event...First to encourage riders to come out and support the GNCC we didn’t think it was right to score both GNCC regulars as well as AGP racers so what we choose to do was to only score AGP racers and make everyone else transparent.

So this is how it works...If there were 3 AGP racers in a class and say rider A got 2nd, Rider B got 6th and rider C got 10th then we at AGP would score rider A with 1st, rider B as 2nd and Rider C as 3rd. As far as points go that is how AGP points will be assigned at both the Mountain Ridge GNCC an Unadilla GNCC.

If anyone has any questions you can email me or feel more than free to call.
