North American Warhorse Race scheduled for Sept 2nd & 3rd is Canceled due to Tropical Storm Ernesto!
The Warhorse Race scheduled for this weekend Sept 2 & 3 has been canceled due to Tropical Storm Ernesto!
Regrettably we’re going to be canceling the race this weekend scheduled at North American WarHorse in Scranton PA.
Why? Because the National Weather Service is predicting anywhere between 2 to 8 inch’s of rainfall from Tropical Storm Ernesto starting Friday evening and going into Sunday.
After a lengthy phone call with the landowner and the thought of potential damage to the mountain behind the WarHorse we made a decision not to run this weekends race.
If anyone is familiar with the property you’d understand that the course crosses a stream in two places and the stream is feed by a reservoir that fills up rather quickly which then dumps it’s contents into the stream that feeds the lower reservoir.
The stream quickly goes from just a couple of inches of water to more than 4 feet or more in just minutes.
The other issue is that the mountain which is a combination or rock and dirt would loose a good portion of the dirt on the trails if we ran the race with the anticipated rainfall that we are expecting.
Sorry about this, but I’d rather do this now and save the mountain for another day, instead of having a lot of really pissed-off riders.
